Summer/Fall Festivals offer fun while benefiting parishes, schools

Summer may be on the wane and school on the horizon but the parish bazaar season continues.

Potenza Lodge, Denver

The annual St. Rocco’s Festival will take over the grounds of the Potenza Lodge, 1900 W. 38th Ave. in Denver this weekend, Aug. 19-21. The festival will offer delicious foods, including Italian sausage sandwiches and pizzelles, a country store and children’s games. Raffle tickets of $25 will offer prizes of $3,000, $1,000 and $500. Entertainment will be provided by Da Boogieman, and Jess Gerardi and his band. St Augustine, Brighton
The eighth annual St. Augustine Parish Festival will be held at the church, 675 E. Egbert St. in Brighton, Aug. 27 and 28. Come and enjoy a variety a delicious foods, silent auction, kids games and entertainment for the whole family. Raffle tickets are available for $3, first prize $4,500, second prize $2,000 and third prize $1,000. Hours of the festival are 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday. Call 303-659-1410.

Holy Rosary
Plan now to attend the annual bazaar at Holy Rosary Parish in Denver will be held Aug. 28 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The day begins with $5 pancake breakfast. Throughout the day, ethnic food favorites including potica, kielbasa and Mexican tacos, enchiladas and tortas will be available. Pony rides, face painting and an air castle are a few of the activities for kids, while adults can enjoy music and dancers. Tours of the historic parish will be conducted from 1:00 to 3:00 pm.

Kentucky Ave., Aurora, is proud to announce their Annual Fun Fest, Sept. 10 featuring multi-cultural food, games and rides for the kids, lots of entertainment and a raffle. Join your friends for a 50s-60s dinner dance at Holy Name Parish to benefit the remodeling of the rectory kitchen. The evening will feature a dinner of salmon piccata or chicken cordon bleu followed by dancing to the music of entertainer Tony David. St. William Parish located at 1025 Fulton Ave. in Fort Lupton, will hold their annual fall festival from noon to 5 p.m. Sept. 17 and 18. Featuring challenging games for children of all ages, there will be rides, live entertainment, a variety of foods and lots of yummy desserts to choose from. Tickets for the raffle are $10 each with prizes of $2,000, $750 and $250 to be giving away. In addition, daily drawings of $50 will take place until Oct. 28. Call 303-857-6642.

The 2011 Harvest Festival to benefit St. Mary Parish and School, 6853 S. Prince St., Littleton, will be held from 1 p.m.-7 p.m. Sept. 18. It will include carnival games and booths, human foosball, laser tab, bingo, face painting, pony rides, a mechanical bull and exotic animals. All the entertainment and food you can eat is included in the admission price of $75 per family of four or $25 per adult and $15 for kids 4-14. Family fun abounds at the annual parish festival at St. Therese Parish, 1243 Kingston St. in Aurora. The event will be held Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 (the parish feast day) and will have lively entertainment, game booths and rides for the kids.
